It’s almost Halloween, so what’s more fun than carving your very first jack-o-lantern? Needless to say you were super excited at first.
Every year we make it a point to make it to Zoo Boo at the Indianapolis Zoo. This year you were going as a penguin. Mommy worked so hard on your costume, and we thought we had you excited to wear it. You refused to try it on until it was completely finished, and even then we had to do some serious convincing to get you to put it on before we left. Luckily, we got some fairly good pictures at home since you refused to wear it once we got there. Mommy ended up carrying it around all day hoping that you would see other kids dressed up and would want to join in on the fun. Nope, as usual you had a mind of your own and decided it just wasn’t for you. We had a fantastic day even without the costume. Aunt Malena came with us, as well as we met another family that Daddy knows from work who has a little girl as well. By the end of the day, you and Josie were holding hands and having a great time.
You’ve finally figured out how to successfully ride your tricycle all by yourself. We couldn’t be prouder! No more walks with Mommy or Daddy pushing you down the sidewalk while you try to figure out how to pedal and steer at the same time. When you figured it out, it was like a light bulb just clicked. You stopped, moved the handlebars, watched how it moved the front wheel, and just took off. Boy, do I wish I had gotten a video of that! Sometimes just watching you figure things out on your own is truly amazing! Now you just have to grow a bit more to be able to reach the pedals on the John Deere tricycle and Daddy’s old pedal tractor that Grandma Jane and Grandpa Sam brought down the last time they were here.
Just had to post this super cute vine I made of you today saying “All aboard!” and “Da, where are you?!” We are so excited that you’re finally starting to put words together!
Tonight was kids night at the Monroe County Fair and Super Why was making an appearance for the special night! We were so excited to take you to see them. WTIU Kids was sponsoring the event, and they had several educational booths and shows going on. Your favorite (other than Super Why of course) was the bouncy house. We had a really hard time getting you out of there! You made a cow mask and even got to play in front of a green screen.
Of course, who can go to a county fair and not look at all the 4-H animals?! We quickly learned that your favorite building was the horse barn. We went through that one twice! Their size did not seem to scare you at all, but you were a bit weirded out in the poultry barn.
You seemed to have had a great time tonight, and when we got in the car and asked you if you had a great time you said, “Yeah!” In fact, I think you had such a great time you completely wore yourself out and was asleep by the time we got home.
